The Humor in New Year's Resolutions

Another year passed. Just like that, the merriment is over and the "Christmas Spirit" is already gone though I am still glad that the Christmas air is still here. :)

For the reason that it is still the first week of January, a lot of people are still clinging to trend of New Year's Resolution.

What does RESOLUTION mean exactly?

res·o·lu·tion

  (rĕz′ə-lo͞o′shən)
n.

1. The state or quality of being resolute; firm determination: faced the situation with resolution.
2.
a. A firm decision to do something: made a resolution to get more exercise.
b. A course of action determined or decided on: His resolution is to get up early.

Resolutions, according to the definition above, are FIRM DECISIONS to DO SOMETHING. This, my friends, is the reason why I was always so hesitant to make one. These are not just a temporary thing, not just something you utter simply because it is new year and you are still high on hopes and possibilities that life will be better this year just because it is new year and just because your feng shui master says so.

Resolutions are huge responsibilities. There is nothing wrong with making one but you have to create it based on an absolute  trust that you can actually make it happen no matter what the odds are. It is comic how others would say "New Year, New Me" when in fact, they are not even planning to do something to recreate themselves. If we keep on doing the same mistakes and procrastinate just like before, you have no right to expect for things to get well. gBesides, it is not only during New Year where we can make our resolutions. If you are firm to the decision that you are open to better things, ACT.
